Asimov talking about learning via computers

Isaac Asimov talking about learning via computers in 1989, he was such a visionary and in this interview sets about explaining why learning on line will become the norm.

The Monolith Monsters Official Trailer #1 - Trevor Bardette Movie (1957) HD

This sci-fi  movie was one that for some reason has fascinated me for many, many years. It is very difficult to get copies of some of  these old movies on dvd as some are quite obscure. However this one has recently turned up in full on youtube, which for me is great because there are usually only tantalising snippets of it!

I remember watching it during the school holidays one year and it really frightened me. Looking at it now I realise just how innocent we all were then!

Hope you enjoy it as much as I have; along with "The Day the Earth Stood Still" and "This Island Earth", they are movies I can watch over and over. (and have!)

My love of scifi!

CULLB602C- Use, evaluate and extend own information literacy skills.

Although this blog was started as part of the above assessment I am intending to continue it into the future.

This blog will be about my love of all things scifi, old and new. I am going to start with the written word then will share with you my love of old scifi movies.

My love for this type of storytelling has been with me for as long as I can remember, starting with classics such as Jules Verne, 'Journey to the Centre of the Earth' and H G Wells 'Time Machine and War of the Worlds.

I think that the first 'modern' scifi book I ever read was 'Farmer in the Sky' by Robert A Heinlien. This book resonated with me in such a way as to cement my love of science fiction stories. The reading part was always there but finally I had a found a genre of storytelling that was, obviously, written just for me!

Scifi books and movies sustained me throughout my growing up years to the point where when other girls my age had pinups of popstars I had Spock!

I am also a self confessed Asimovian, for who the Three Laws of Robotics was a revelation. I sometimes feel I have been born into the wrong place in time as living with robots seems to be the most natural of existences.

I hope that you will begin to experience the utter joy and wonderment that reading scifi can bring to your life.
